Bring fragrance and a little visual theatre to your incense routine with Aromatika Backflow Incense Cones, available in ten different scents. These cones are made specifically for use with backflow incense burners, where the smoke is drawn downwards through the burner to create the familiar cascading effect. Each box contains 10 cones, making them an easy way to experiment with different fragrances or keep a favourite scent on hand.

Choose from ten varieties: Dragon's Blood, Lavender, Lotus, Nag Champa, Palo Santo, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Seven Chakra and White Sage. Each option has its own character, so you can choose according to the kind of atmosphere you want to create. Dragon's Blood is rich and resinous; Lavender is soft and floral; Lotus is light and gently perfumed; Nag Champa is warm, sweet and classic; Palo Santo is woody and aromatic; Patchouli is earthy and deep; Rose is floral and familiar; Sandalwood is smooth and woody; Seven Chakra offers a blended incense profile; and White Sage has a herbal, fresh character.

Backflow cones work differently from ordinary incense cones. Once lit, they are designed so that the smoke travels downwards through the opening in a compatible backflow burner rather than simply rising. This creates the flowing, waterfall-like effect that makes backflow burners so distinctive. The effect works best in a still room, away from fans, open windows and strong draughts, because moving air can interrupt the smoke as it descends through the burner.

To use, place your burner on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Light the tip of the cone, allow the flame to catch briefly, then gently blow it out so the cone begins to smoulder. Position the cone over the backflow opening in your burner. It may take a short while for enough smoke to build before the downward cascade becomes visible. Burn time, smoke density and fragrance strength can vary slightly from cone to cone and between fragrances.

These incense cones can be used whenever you enjoy adding fragrance to a space: during meditation, journaling, reading, yoga, quiet evenings, altar work or simply as part of your usual home-fragrance routine. Any ritual or spiritual meaning attached to a particular fragrance is personal and tradition-dependent; the cones themselves are sold as scented incense products rather than as a treatment or guaranteed way to influence mood, health or energy.

As with all incense, use them carefully. Never leave a burning cone unattended. Keep away from children, pets, fabrics, curtains, paper and other flammable materials. Place the burner on a heat-resistant surface and allow the cone and burner to cool completely before handling or cleaning. Backflow incense can leave a light residue on the burner over time, especially around the smoke channels. Once everything is cool, wipe the burner gently according to its material and care instructions.

These cones are intended for compatible backflow burners. They can still release fragrance when burned on a suitable incense holder, but the full cascading effect requires a burner designed to guide the smoke downwards. For the clearest effect, make sure the cone is aligned correctly with the burner's opening.

Whether you like rich resins, fresh herbs, soft florals or warm woody scents, the Aromatika range gives you plenty of choice in one simple format. Select your preferred fragrance from the options available, pair it with your favourite backflow burner and enjoy the combination of scent and flowing smoke.
