This striking one-of-a-kind natural Pyrite specimen is packed with metallic cubic crystal faces, giving it the distinctive gold-toned sparkle that has earned Pyrite its familiar nickname, “Fool’s Gold”. Measuring approximately 60mm at its widest point, this is a substantial hand-sized mineral specimen with a dense, textured surface and a particularly attractive mix of sharp-edged cubes, smaller interlocking crystals and rough natural matrix. You will receive the exact specimen shown in the photographs.

The most eye-catching feature of this piece is the abundance of naturally formed cubic Pyrite crystals across the front and upper surfaces. Many of the cubes show flat reflective faces and clearly defined edges, while others overlap or grow into one another, creating a layered, architectural appearance. The metallic colour shifts between warm brass-gold, muted bronze and deeper grey-gold depending on the angle of the light. Some areas catch the light very strongly, while others have a softer, more matte metallic finish, adding depth and variation across the specimen.

Unlike a polished crystal shape, this specimen has been left in its natural mineral form. The base and reverse show a rougher, more compact Pyrite matrix with less-defined crystal growth, while the display side carries the richer concentration of visible cubes. Small natural pits, broken crystal edges, surface marks, colour variation and uneven areas are all part of the specimen’s natural formation and are not considered faults. These details are especially important with Pyrite because each cluster develops differently, making every piece individual.

Pyrite is an iron sulphide mineral with the chemical formula FeS₂. Its bright metallic lustre and pale brass colour have historically led to it being mistaken for gold, which is where the nickname “Fool’s Gold” comes from. Despite the nickname, Pyrite is a fascinating mineral in its own right and is highly collectible, particularly when it forms distinct cubes or other well-defined crystal shapes. The strong cubic habit visible on this specimen makes it especially appealing as a display piece for mineral collectors, geology enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys unusual natural crystal formations.

In crystal traditions, Pyrite is traditionally associated with confidence, motivation, abundance and personal drive. It is also symbolically linked with prosperity, determination and a strong sense of purpose. These associations belong to crystal and spiritual traditions and should be understood as symbolic or personal rather than scientific or medical claims. This specimen is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and no particular result or outcome can be guaranteed.

This piece would make an attractive addition to a crystal shelf, mineral cabinet, desk display, altar or study space. Its naturally reflective surfaces make it particularly effective under soft directional lighting, where the cubic faces can catch and return the light from different angles. It also makes a thoughtful gift for someone interested in geology, mineral collecting, crystals, metallic specimens, natural history or unusual decorative objects.

Pyrite does need a little care. It is best kept dry and away from prolonged moisture, damp environments and soaking, as exposure to moisture can encourage surface alteration over time. Avoid chemical cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners and abrasive polishing. To remove loose dust, use a soft, dry brush and handle the specimen carefully by its sturdier matrix areas rather than by any more delicate projecting crystals. Wash your hands after handling mineral specimens, particularly before eating or preparing food, and keep small fragments away from young children and pets.

Please remember that natural mineral specimens may contain irregularities, inclusions, incomplete crystal faces, small chips, fractures, rough areas and slight surface oxidation. These are normal features of natural Pyrite and form part of the character of the piece. The photographs are an important part of the description and show the exact item you will receive.

This is a genuine one-of-a-kind Brambleside Holistics specimen. Once this exact Pyrite cluster has sold, it cannot be replaced with an identical piece.
